And we're live!

And we're live!

Over the 8 years I was running my former business, Tasman Bay Vets, which I sold in 2014, I created a few websites so I had a fair idea what I was up for when putting together the initial website for Genius Pet Food. But wow, has the internet come a long way in the last couple of years. The sheer volume of web design and hosting options, stock image libraries and of course the rise of social media has made it an evermore daunting process for those of us who are trained as veterinarians, not marketers.

There have been a few sleepless nights, as for me thoughts and ideas tend to coalesce at stupid hours of the morning. I have had to let my type A personality go a little and channel a bit of Sheryl Sandberg's "done is better than perfect" to get this baby live. So if you spot any glaring typos please, please get in touch. I will correct them immediately! Also I welcome your feedback.

This site is a work in progress, as is the business at this stage. Our intention is to add a fair bit of educational material to both the website and the blog over the coming months, so if there are any particular questions you have then drop me a line at paula@geniuspetfood.co.nz.

And now I think I'll take a few days off and sleep.

One of the key things I learnt as a veterinarian in clinical practice was that if you recommended a certain food to a client they would most likely buy one bag, but it was totally up to the dog as to whether the owners came back to buy another one!

Wow, its been a long road getting to this day. We started out with a mission to make New Zealand's most nutritious dry dog food and there have been a few twists in the road along the way. Starting a new business is not an easy path, but we're getting there.
