As a veterinarian, I’ve seen how profoundly nutrition shapes a dog’s health - influencing everything from skin and coat quality to digestion, weight, mobility and longevity. It’s one of the most important aspects of your dog’s wellbeing to get right.

Dogs thrive on high-quality animal protein. In our Ocean Fish recipe, most of the protein comes from New Zealand King Salmon and wild-caught fish meal - highly digestible marine proteins naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids. By contrast, many brands inflate their protein levels by using large amounts of cheaper plant proteins such as peas, lentils and chickpeas, which provide lower-quality nutrition.

Dogs also need to absorb a full range of essential amino acids from their diet. Grains and legumes contain different, but complementary, amino-acid profiles. Instead of over-relying on one or the other, we use a balanced blend of rice and peas to create a more complete profile.

Some dog foods offer little beyond their core protein and carbohydrate sources. We believe dogs benefit from greater nutritional diversity, so we include fruits, vegetables, natural prebiotics, and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients to support overall health.

Genius reflects what I believe good nutrition should be: complete, balanced, scientifically led and designed to support your dog’s health throughout their life.

How is your food formulated?

I designed our Ocean Fish recipe from a veterinarian’s perspective - informed by the common nutrition issues I saw in clinical practice. An experienced animal nutritionist then refined the formulation to ensure it delivers complete and balanced nutrition you can trust.
Does your food meet AAFCO standards?

Yes. Our Ocean Fish recipe meets AAFCO standards for dogs of all life stages, including large-breed puppies, and this has been verified through testing at the Massey University Nutrition Laboratory.
Where is your food manufactured?

Our food is manufactured by an export-certified pet food producer in the Bay of Plenty. We deliberately partner with an export-certified facility because it meets higher audit and compliance standards than factories producing only for the New Zealand market.
